is the largest city in the Baltics and has a long tradition as a Hanseatic city.
After arrival in your apartment you have enough time to get to know Riga on your own. The
overnight stay takes place in Riga.
Day 2 Riga
Today you can get to know Riga with your personal city guide. In the medieval old town there is a lot
to discover: the Riga Cathedral, the Schweden Gate, the St. Peter's Church and the glorious guild
houses of the city. A highlight is the visit of the Riga market halls, former hangars at the bus station.
Local traders invite to tastings of regional specialties.
Day 3 Gauja National Park
After breakfast, you will receive your rental car and start the journey towards Sigulda - the Latvian
Switzerland. The city is the gateway to the unique Gauja National Park and offers the opportunity to
visit the legendary Turaida Castle. The fairy-tale castle is located on a small hill and offers a
beautiful view over the surrounding landscape and the national park. Continue your journey to the
city of Cesis - whose old town impresses with its typical Latvian old buildings. The overnight stay
takes place in Cesis.
Day 4 Rezekne
Today's tour will take you to Latgale - the east of Latvia. On the way, you can visit the Raznas
National Park or stop at Lake Razna.
The second largest lake in Latvia is always worth a visit. Arrived in Aluksne we recommend a visit to
the Ernst-Glück Bible Museum. Johann-Ernst-Glück was born in 1654 near Halle, Germany and
was a student of Martin Luther. Here in Aluksne, he was the first to translate the Bible into Latvian,
thus greatly influencing Latvian written language and the Latvian school system.
The next destination is Rezekne - only 50km from the Russian border. Since time immemorial, the
trade routes between Moscow, Riga, Warsaw and St. Petersburg have intersected here. Attached to
archaeological finds, the first settlement of Latgalian tribes can be dated to the 9th century.
Documented the city was first mentioned in 1285. The power over Rezekne was transferred at the
beginning of the 14th century to the Livonian Crusader Order, which built a fortress in the same
place.
Day 5 Aglona
The destination of today is Aglona - the most famous place of pilgrimage of the Baltic.
Visit the Bread Museum with its numerous baking techniques. A tour through the bakery and a typical
Latvian lunch are included in the price. The second destination takes you to Kraslava - one of the
most beautiful Latvian cities. The history of the city of Kraslava is closely linked to the Counts Plater
family. Overnight stay in UPES DIŽVIETAS. Here you can enjoy the view of the Daugava and the
evening at the barbecue*.
Day 6 Canoe trip on the Daugava
Your today's excursion will take you to the heart of the Daugavas Loki Nature Park - the oldest geological formation of Latvia. From your canoe, you will discover
the unique nature and breathtaking scenery of the river meanders. Float past small and large islands and cultural and historical monuments of the area. The
loneliness is occasionally interrupted only by anglers and small farms. On the way you see the Old Believers village Slutiski, where you can have lunch in historic
wooden houses. Overnight stays in UPES DIŽVIETAS.
Day 7 Rundale
Today's excursion continues west. After a 3.5 hour drive you will reach the Rundale Castle, which is also called

castle itself is one of the most important architectural monuments of Baroque and Rococo in Latvia. The castle
park is also designed in French style and is suitable for long walks.

own.
Day 9 Jurmala
On the last day you drive back towards Riga. Along the way, you will pass Cape Kola, where the Baltic meets the Gulf of Riga. Not far away is the city of
Jurmala. Since the 19th century, the rich and famous of the Baltic region have been meeting here for sunbathing and beach fun. Jurlama means beach and
