Manor houses and the Gauja

6 days from/to Riga Day 1 Riga - Sigulda - Igate (ca. 40 km - 100% asphalt) Welcome to Riga. At 9:00 am you pick up your bicycles. Your train from Riga leaves at 10.35 clock to Sigulda, the first stop on the journey. You will arrive at 11.50, so you will have enough time to explorer the city. Afterwards you cycle to Igate, where you stay in a hotel. Day 2 Igate - Limbazi - Dikli (about 55 km - 100% asphalt) Today you drive north to Limbazi, the former seat of the Livonian Knight Order. Visit the historic old town and have a lunch there. Afterwards you drive east to Dikli, where the first Latvian song festival took place. The overnight stay takes place in a hotel in Dikli. Day 3 Dikli - Valmiera - Mujani (about 35 km - 85% aps / 15% gravel / sand) Today's ride takes you to Valmiera, where you have the opportunity to visit the old town and the castle hill. Your journey continues north where you can visit the brewery "Valmiermuiza" or enjoy a typical Latvian lunch. Later a dirt road (5km) leads you to Mujani. The overnight stay takes place in a hotel in Mujani. Day 4 Mujani - Cesis - Karli (about 45 km - 50% asphalt / 50% gravel / sand) Ride south on a mostly unpaved road into Gauja National Park. After crossing the river Gauja River you reach Cesis. Visit the castle ruins, admire the wooden houses in the old town and enjoy lunch in modern restaurants or cafes. Continue to the south. Overnight in a hotel in Karli. Day 5 Karli - Ligatne - Malpils (about 55 km - 45% asphalt / 55% gravel / sand) Today you cycle along the Gauja River from Karli to Ligatne. Shortly before Ligatne you can visit a former secret communal bunker from the Soviet era. From Ligatne the path continues on a dirt road south towards Nitaure, from there further west to Malpils. The overnight stay takes place in a hotel in Malpils. Day 6 Malpils - Kegums - Riga (about 40 km - 100% asphalt) The last section of the journey leads south along the Daugava. Past Suntazi and on to Kegums. From Kegums you take the train back to Riga. After returning the bikes individual stay in Riga or onward journey.
