Day 1 individual arrival to Riga Individual arrival to Riga - the pearl of the Baltic States. The capital of Latvia is the largest city in the Baltic States and has a long tradition as a Hanseatic city. Once you arrive in your hotel, you have time to discover the city on your own. Overnight in Riga. Day 2 Riga Today you will experience Riga with your personal guide. In the medieval old town there is a lot to discover: the Riga Cathedral, the Swedengate, the St. Per’s church, beautiful guild houses, such as the House of the Blackheads and of course the Riga Castle, which is today the seat of government. In newer part you can see the richly decorated Art Nouveau facades. In the market halls various local delicacies invite to taste. Overnight iin Riga. Day 3 Gauja National Park After breakfast, take your car and drive in the direction of "Latvian Switzerland", as the nature reserve around Sigulda is called. It is the gateway to the Gauja National Park - an Eldorado for every nature lover! Visit the legendary Turaida Castle. Its location on a small hill is magical and offers a great view over the surrounding countryside. Then continue to Cesis. With its well-preserved old town with wooden buildings, it is considered a "real" Latvian town. Overnight in Cesis. Day 4 Rezekne Today's leg will take you to Latgale - the eastern part of the country. On your way you can visit the Raznas National Park. Lake Rāzna is the second largest lake in Latvia and since 2007 it has the protection status of a nature park. In Aluksne, a visit to the Ernst Glück Bible Museum is recommended. Johann Ernst Glück, a pupil of Martin Luther born in Wettin near Halle (Germany) in 1654, created the first Latvian Bible translation in Aluksne, whose significance for the development of the Latvian literary and Latvian schools can not be emphasized strongly enough. Your final destination is Rezekne. Rezekne is located only 50 kilometers from the Russian border and has always been on the intersection between the trade routes to Moscow, Riga, Warsaw and St. Petersburg. Based on archaeological finds, the region was already inhabited in the 9th century by Latgalian tribes. In documents the city was first mentioned in 1285. The power was transferred to the Livonian Crusader Order at the beginning of the 14th century, which built a fortress here. Overnight in Rezekne. Day 5 Aglona - Kraslava Today you drive south. Your first destination is Aglona - the most famous place of pilgrimage in the Baltic States. Here you visit the bread museum with numerous tools around the bread production. After a tour of the bakery, you will enjoy a typical Latvian lunch. The end of today's tour takes you to one of the most beautiful cities in Latgale - Kraslava. The area was already settled in the 9th century and appears in the legends of the Vikings under the name "Dynasaiforgarör". The history of the city of Kraslava is closely linked to the Counts family Plater. Their city castle is still located on a hill above the city. Overnight at the holiday complex "Upes Dizvietas". Here you will enjoy the view of the Daugava and end the evening with a campfire and barbecue. Day 6 canoe trip on the Daugava Today's excursion will take you into the heart of the Daugavas Loki Nature Park - the oldest geological formation in Latvia. From canoe you will discover the breathtaking landscape along the meanders of the river. The nature park has numerous natural and cultural-historical monuments. You drive past small and larger islands through untouched nature. The loneliness is only occasionally interrupted by anglers or some farmsteads. On the way you drive along the Old Believers village "Slutiski" where you will immerse yourself in the life of the Old Believers in a replica wooden house and enjoy a typical lunch. Overnight at the holiday complex "Upes Dizvietas". Day 7 Rundale Today your route leads west. After about 3.5 hours drive you will arrive at Rundale Castle, the "Latvian Versailles", the summer residence of the Duke of Courland,  which is worth a detailed visit. That it does not have to shy away from a comparison with the original, you will certainly confirm after a visit. Rundāle Castle is one of the most important monuments of Baroque and Rococo architecture in Latvia. The park is also designed in French style. Overnight at Rundale. Day 8 Ventspils Today you drive in the direction of Ventspils. On the way there, a visit to Kuldiga is recommended. Here you can visit the old town with the famous brick bridge and the widest waterfall in Europe - the Ventas Rumba. Afterwards, your tour continues to Ventspils at the confluence of the Venta River with the Baltic Sea. Overnight in Ventspils. Day 9 Jurmala - Riga Today you drive back to Riga. On the you may visit the Cape Kola where the Baltic Sea meets the Riga Gulf. Then a stop in Jurmala is worthwhile. Here near Riga, since the 19th century, the rich and famous of the Baltics meet for sunbathing and beach fun. Jurmala translated means beach - and this name is program! On our tour we will also show you the other side of Jurmala: quiet, tree-lined streets, 100 year old wooden villas and breathtaking nature reserves. Overnight in Riga. Day 10 individual departure from Riga
